Creating your own edge or border around an image is easy to do in Photoshop.
Open the photo you will be working with. |

Duplicate the background layer - this automatically renames it into Background copy. |

Fill the background layer with white or any colour you want . |

Used the Marquee tool to make a selection on the layer called Background copy. |

Add a layer mask (this will take your selection and make it into a mask) |

Make sure you have the Layer Mask selected before you do the next step. |

Use a filter of choice, for example the glass filter Finished! You can remove the white background layer if you wish. |
